At home
with Rosalie Vaillancourt
A basement that’s so Rosalie
To transform her basement, Rosalie Vaillancourt turned to Maison Nyckel with just one request: stay true to the home’s mid-century style. Beyond that, she gave them carte blanche—and the result is chock-full of personality.
Clean lines, organic shapes and bold colours set the tone for a space that feels warm, lively and just daring enough. Chosen for their character, our furniture and accessories fit right into a world where mid-century is anything but subdued.
Small space, smart design
The challenge? Making the most of a modest footprint without overwhelming the space. The large L-shaped sofa originally envisioned was swapped for a three-seater sofa bed and swivel chair. a solution proposed by Maison Nyckel to preserve the flow and let the room breathe.
Beyond the practical considerations, the project ultimately created a space that feels distinctly Rosalie. She shares the pieces she loves most and what, in her eyes, gives the room its personality.
Which piece of furniture is your absolute favourite?
“The Pence swivel chair, definitely! I love how its curves soften the room, and the colour feels like it came straight out of another era. It’s a piece that really stands out.”
What about the finished space feels most like you?
“The colours! We weren’t afraid to try things, and I love how it turned out. Walking into the room almost feels like discovering a second home within the home.”
In the end, the basement feels like a world of its own: colourful, warm and unmistakably Rosalie.Discover the pieces that bring the space to life.
